  1. 11. Plant species diversity patterns in a Swedish rural landscape : effects of the past and consequences for the future

    Författare :Sara A. O. Cousins; Roy Haines-Young; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Plant species richness in rural landscapes is threatened as grassland management ceases or changes, and as many remaining semi-natural grasslands are becoming increasingly fragmented. This thesis is a study of plant species diversity in a rural landscape in south-eastern Sweden, and its relationship to management history and landscape pattern. LÄS MER

  2. 12. The long-term history of temperate broadleaves in southern Sweden

    Författare :Tove Hultberg; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Temperate broadleaves used to be abundant in the primeval forests in southern Sweden, yet today they cover only fractions of the forest land. Considering the present small area of the forest type, the habitat is of considerable interest for biodiversity, and knowledge about the history of temperate broadleaves is crucial for forest conservation and management. 3. 13. Animal movement on short and long time scales and the effect on genetic diversity in cold-adapted species

    Författare :Vendela Kempe Lagerholm; Love Dalén; Anders Angerbjörn; Bensch Staffan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systematic Zoology; zoologisk systematik och evolutionsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : The genetic diversity in modern species is strongly affected by contemporary gene flow between populations, which in turn is governed by individual dispersal capacities and barriers in the landscape. However, current patterns of variation have also been shaped by movement over longer time-scales, such as the successive shifts in species distributions that have occurred during past climate changes. 4. 14. Cross-scale monitoring, landscape trajectories, and feedback in forest management : Examples from southern and middle boreal ecosystems in Sweden

    Författare :Sofia Eriksson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestisk ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : To manage for sustainability in a complex and changing world requires understanding of the coupled human-environmental system. The two case studies in this licentiate thesis are linked by what we can learn from past and current management in the form of feedback and how it can be incorporated into practical forest management within the boreal region.
