  1. 6. Volcanic stratigraphy, chemical stratigraphy, and hydrothermal alteration of the Petiknäs South Volcanic-hosted massive sulfide deposit, Sweden

    Författare :Denis Schlatter; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Malmgeologi; Ore Geology;

    Sammanfattning : The main exploration methods which have been used in the Skellefte district are prospecting for ore boulders in young glacial deposits and electrical geophysical methods. The discovery of new ores which likely are located at deep levels (>200 m), requires improved exploration methods, which in turn require a better understanding of the geology and alteration patterns of the known VMS deposits. 2. 7. Spatial distribution of snow in Antarctica and other glacier studies using ground-penetrating radar

    Författare :Cecilia Richardson-Näslund; Robert W. Jacobel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; GPR; ground-penetrating radar; radar soundings; snow accumulation; accumulation rate; spatial variability; Antarctica; Dronning Maud Land; cold surface layer; thermal regime; glacial cirques; Sweden; Antarktis; Glaciärer; Ackumulering av snö; Geography; Physical Geography; geografi med naturgeografisk inriktning;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis is to develop and exemplify the use of ground-penetrating radar (GPR) within the field of glaciology. The main focus is on the spatial distribution of snow in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Past dynamics of a marine-terminating glacier in lower Borgarfjörður, west Iceland - Analyses of glaciotectonic sediments and landforms

    Författare :Thorbjorg Sigfusdottir; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; glacier dynamics; marine-terminating glacier; glaciomarine processes; thrust-block moraines; glaciotectonics; micromorphology; Early Holocene; Late Weichselian; Iceland;

    Sammanfattning : Large and complete sections through glacial landforms formed in subaqueous environments are rare, impeding our knowledge of their internal composition and the processes responsible for their formation. Following the last deglaciation of the Icelandic Ice Sheet (IIS), a marine-terminating outlet glacier advanced out of the fjord of Borgarfjörður resulting in large-scale glaciotectonic deformation of glaciomarine sediments.
