  1. 21. Simulation and Optimization of Recirculating Aquaculture Systems

    Författare :Simon Pedersen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dynamic modelling; optimization; biofilter; wastewater treatment; Recirculating aquaculture;

    Sammanfattning : Recirculating aquaculture -- intensive fish farming with water treatment and reuse -- has great potential as a method for sustainable food production. Benefits over traditional aquaculture include opportunities to reduce nitrogen emissions to water, control of temperature, salinity and pH, reduced environmental impact of escapes and better protection against e. 2. 22. Genomic and morphological diversity of marine planktonic diatom-diazotroph associations : a continuum of integration and diversification through geological time

    Författare :Andrea Caputo; Rachel Ann Foster; Monika Quinones Winder; Ramon Massana; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phytoplankton; diatoms; cyanobacteria; diazotrophs; symbiosis; evolution; phylogenetics; confocal microscopy; qPCR; CARD-FISH; tropics; sub-tropics; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Symbioses between eukaryotes and nitrogen (N2)-fixing cyanobacteria (or diazotrophs) are quite common in the plankton community. A few genera of diatoms (Bacillariophyceae) such as Rhizosolenia, Hemiaulus and Chaetoceros are well known to form symbioses with the heterocystous diazotrophic cyanobacteria Richelia intracellularis and Calothrix rhizosoleniae. 3. 23. Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl syndrome. Clinical,electrophysiological and genetic aspects

    Författare :Ruth Riise; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl syndrome; Bardet-Biedl syndrome. Retinal dystrophy. Retinitis Pigmentosa. Obesity. Dental anomalies. Skeletal anomalies. Hypogenitalism. Variation. Overlapping. Genetic linkage mapping.; Alström syndrome; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi;

    Sammanfattning : The study included 44 Scandinavian individuals with the autosomal recessive inherited Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl syndrome. Inclusion criteria were retinal dystrophy plus at least 2 more of the remaining traditional cardinal signs of the syndrome: obesity, polydactyly, hypogenitalism and mental retardation. LÄS MER

  4. 24. HIV-1 phenotype and genetic variation in vertical transmission

    Författare :Peter Clevestig; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV; co-receptor use; diversity; clade; sequon.;

    Sammanfattning : HIV-1 vertical transmission is increasing worldwide despite that successful strategies are available. Reduction of vertical transmission has been established by antiretroviral prophylaxis and elective Caesarian section, but this has been limited to the developed countries. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Evolutionary optimisation of a morphological image processor for embedded systems

    Författare :Andreas Magnusson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; embedded system; machine vision; morphological image processing; genetic algorithm; Energi och material;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis concerns the design, development and implementation of two digital components to be used, primarily, in autonomously operating embedded systems, such as mobile robots. The first component is an image coprocessor, for high-speed morphological image processing, and the second is a hardware-based genetic algorithm coprocessor, which provides evolutionary computation functionality for embedded applications.
