26. Radio waves in the ionosphere : Propagation, generation and detection
Sammanfattning : We discuss various topics concerning the propagation, generation, and detec-tionof high-frequency (HF) radio waves in the Earth's ionosphere. With re-gardsto propagation, we derive a full wave Hamiltonian and a polarization evo-lutionequation for electromagnetic waves in a cold, stratified magnetoplasma. LÄS MER
27. Generation of urban runoff : Seasonal and climate change perspective
Sammanfattning : Runoff generation in cold regions is characterized by snowmelt contributions to runoff during the periods of thawing and changing runoff patterns due to frozen ground. This thesis project aimed at addressing these challenges by advancing the procedures for winter urban runoff computations and the assessment of control measures during the winter/spring period, when the snowmelt and frozen soils dominantly impact runoff generation in the current and future climates. 28. Generation of Retinal Neurons : Focus on the Proliferation and Differentiation of the Horizontal Cells and their Subtypes
Sammanfattning : We have used the chicken retina as a model for investigating cell cycle regulation and cell fate commitment during central nervous system development. This thesis focuses on the characterization of and commitment to the horizontal cell fate in the retina. LÄS MER
29. Network-based Anomaly Detection for SCADA Systems : Traffic Generation and Modeling
Sammanfattning : Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems control and monitor critical infrastructure in society, such as electricity transmission and distribution systems. Modern SCADA systems are increasingly adopting open standards and being connected to the Internet to enable remote control. LÄS MER
30. Toward Next-generation Data Centers : Principles of Software-Defined “Hardware” Infrastructures and Resource Disaggregation
Sammanfattning : The cloud is evolving due to additional demands introduced by new technological advancements and the wide movement toward digitalization. Therefore, next-generation data centers (DCs) and clouds are expected (and need) to become cheaper, more efficient, and capable of offering more predictable services. LÄS MER
