6. Is building molecular solid-state structures as easy as playing with Lego?
Sammanfattning : Crystal engineering is a science dealing with molecular solid-state compounds. One major development in the last ten years has been the description of structures as if they were forming network. In this simplified approach to the structures where atoms, molecules, and molecular ions are replaced by a construction of edges and nodes forming a net. LÄS MER
7. Characterizing cavity containing materials using electron microscopy : A study of metal oxides, mesoporous crystals and porous material containing nanosized metal-particles
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the characterization of novel materials by utilizing electron microscopy techniques. The examined materials contain cavities with certain attributes that enables desired properties for applications such as gas separation, catalysis and fuel cells. LÄS MER
8. Adsorption and Mass Transport in Zeolite Membranes
Sammanfattning : Zeolites are commonly used as adsorbents and catalysts in the industry due to their well-defined pores of molecular dimensions. Zeolites offer porous structure, which consists of interlinked alumina and silica tetrahedra with shared oxygen atoms. LÄS MER
9. Manganese Materials in Solid Fuel Chemical Looping Combustion
Sammanfattning : Against the background of rising anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, carbon capture andstorage (CCS) has been proposed as a means of mitigating climate change by storing CO2 capturedfrom large point sources in underground geological formations such as aquifers or depleted oilandgas fields. While first generation CCS technologies rely on active gas separation with anassociated energy penalty, chemical looping combustion (CLC) can avoid that step by utilizingsolid metal oxide particles to transfer oxygen from combustion air to fuel, making CO2 captureinherent to the process. 10. Chemical-Looping Combustion with Liquid Fuel — Operation in a 300W Chemical-Looping Combustor
Sammanfattning : Chemical-looping combustion (CLC) is a promising technology for future energy production based on combustion of fossil fuel with inherent CO2 separation. In comparison to other carbon capture technologies there is no need for energy demanding gas separation using CLC in order to obtain pure CO2. LÄS MER
