  1. 6. Fibroblast growth factor-8 regulation of breast cancer cell growth

    Författare :Emeli Nilsson; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Expression of fibroblast growth factor-8 (FGF-8) is increased in a large number of breast cancers. In in vitro and in vivo breast cancer models FGF-8 promotes growth, invasion and angiogenesis. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Fibroblast growth factor- and vascular endothelial growth factor-induced signal transduction in angiogenesis

    Författare :Eva Landgren; Uppsala universitet; []

  3. 8. Role of Heparan Sulfate Structure in FGF-Receptor Interactions and Signaling

    Författare :Nadja Jastrebova; Dorothe Spillmann; Ulf Lindahl; John T. Gallagher; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biochemistry; heparan sulfate; oligosaccharide; fibroblast growth factor; fibroblast growth factor signaling; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Heparan sulfate (HS) belongs to the glycosaminoglycan family of polysaccharides and is found attached to protein cores on cell surfaces and in the extracellular matrix. The HS backbone consists of alternating hexuronic acid and glucosamine units and undergoes a number of modification reactions creating HS chains with alternating highly and low modified domains, where high degree of modification correlates with high negative charge. 4. 9. Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor-1 Function in Vasculo- and Angiogenesis

    Författare :Peetra Magnusson; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Anne Eichmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; FGF; FGFR-1; VEGFR-2; PDGFR-β; endothelial cells; embryonic stem cell; angiogenesis; hematopoiesis; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : During development of the mammalian embryo, spatial and temporal expression of fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their cognate receptors are vital in the regulation of a number of patterning processes. Inappropriate or decreased expression leads to severe malformations and even embryonic death. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Gene expression in human adipose tissue. Studies of leptin and genes selected by expression profiling

    Författare :Britt Gabrielsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :obesity; subcutaneous; omental; DNA microarray; sulfonylurea receptor; fibroblast; growth factors; complement system; fibroblast;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity, and in particular the amount of visceral adipose tissue, is correlated to development of type 2diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The aim of this thesis was to study genes expressed in humanadipose tissue that could be involved in regional adipose tissue homeostasis and/or obesity-associateddisease. LÄS MER
