26. Node-Level Fault Tolerance for Embedded Real-Time Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with cost-effective design and validation of fault tolerant distributed real-time systems. Such systems play an increasingly important role in embedded applications such as automotive and aerospace systems. LÄS MER
27. On Concurrent Error Detection and Error Propagation
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses three important steps in the selection of error detection mechanisms for microprocessors: (i) the design and evaluation of error detection mechanisms, (ii) the study of microprocessor error behavior and propagation and (iii) the design and use of error models. The first part of the thesis evaluates four error detection methods with respect to para- meters such as error detection coverage and performance loss, while the second and third parts focus on determining the error patterns most likely to occur in a computer system when different types of faults are present and how to incorporate those error patterns into error models. 28. Fundamental Estimation and Detection Limits in Linear Non-Gaussian Systems
Sammanfattning : Many methods used for estimation and detection consider only the mean and variance of the involved noise instead of the full noise descriptions. One reason for this is that the mathematics is often considerably simplified this way. LÄS MER
29. Sources of Variations in Error Sensitivity of Computer Systems
Sammanfattning : Technology scaling is reducing the reliability of integrated circuits. This makes it important to provide computers with mechanisms that can detect and correct hardware errors. This thesis deals with the problem of assessing the hardware error sensitivity of computer systems. LÄS MER
30. On a learning system for industrial automation : Model-based control and diagnostics for decision support
Sammanfattning : Access to energy is fundamental to economic and technological advancement. Hence, the more the world develops, the greater the demand for energy becomes. Evidently, the production and consumption of energy alone account for more than 80% of global anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. LÄS MER
