16. Coordinated Multi-Stage Inventory Systems with Stochastic Demand
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on six scientific papers providing different methods for coordinated inventory control in supply chains. The main focus is on supply chains in connection with distribution of products to customers. Two different problem areas are considered. LÄS MER
17. On Brownfield Layout Planning
Sammanfattning : As manufacturing companies strive to increase productivity and decrease waste, to stay competitive in an increasingly global and digitalised context, their production system must improve. Improvements to production systems can be achieved in many ways, including increased levels of automation, improved product and process flows and improved scheduling. LÄS MER
18. Extreme environments - Design and human factors considerations
Sammanfattning : The starting point of this research is based on my experience at SICSA performing research and design for extreme environments, including orbital and lunar planetary facilities, disaster shelters, polar stations and offshore surface and submersible habitats. This thesis explores what aspects and issues of design and planning processes in extreme environments have to be addressed in a similar way and therefore may be used as a basis for further work toward PhD thesis to develop a methodological planning tool or matrix. 19. Climate Impact and Energy Balance of Emerging Biorefinery Systems
Sammanfattning : Use of fossil fuels is the main contributor to anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG). Biorefineries, which are facilities that produce a set of valuable products from biomass, have been suggested as alternatives to fossil refineries, for the production of fuels, chemicals and materials. 20. A Virtual Design Studio for Low-Frequency Sound from Walking in Lightweight Buildings
Sammanfattning : In recent years there has been a growing interest for building lightweight multistorey woodenresidential buildings in countries like Sweden with large and renewable forests. While positive aspectsof these buildings, such as sustainability, ease of construction and lightness, motivate building more inwood, poor acoustic performance is a risk which concerns the wooden-building industry.
