  1. 6. Radioluminescence : A simple model for fluorescent layers

    Författare :Jan Lindström; Eva Lund; Michael Sandborg; Gudrun Alm-Carlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Extrinsic efficiency; extinction factor; radioluminescence; modelling; Monte Carlo; optical attenuation; optimisation; particle size; phosphor; scintillator; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to present a simple model for the radiation to light conversion processes in fluorescent layers as an aid in future developments and applications. Optimisation between sensitivity and spatial resolution for fluorescent layers in digital radiology is a delicate task where the extrinsic efficiency for various phosphors needs to be established for varying parameters. 2. 7. Organic carbon dynamics in the Baltic Sea : A modelling perspective

    Författare :Filippa Fransner; Jonas Nycander; Christoph Humborg; Andreas Oschlies; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbon cycle; organic carbon; primary production; remineralisation; terrestrial DOC; extracellular DOC; flexible stoichiometry; Redfield ratio; air-sea CO2 exchange; pCO2; coupled 3D physical-biogeochemical modelling; Gulf of Bothnia; Baltic Sea; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Coastal seas constitute a link between land and the open ocean, and therefore play an important role in the global carbon cycle. Large amounts of carbon, of both terrestrial and marine origin, transit and are transformed in these waters, which belong to the more productive areas of the oceans. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Studies on Diesel sprays under non-reacting and reacting conditions

    Författare :Chengjun Du; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; diffusion flame; OH radical; ethanol; spray vaporization; soot formation; cavitation; turbulent; OH* chemiluminescence; laser extinction; LAS; Diesel sprays;

    Sammanfattning : Methods for reducing engine-out emissions are urgently needed to mitigate climate change and air pollution. In diesel engines, the quality of fuel-air mixing and the subsequent combustion process strongly affect fuel efficiency and engine-out emissions. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Application of Laser-based Diagnostics to a Prototype Gas Turbine Burner at Selected Pressures

    Författare :Ronald Whiddon; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; OH; Laser Diagnostics; Elevated Pressure; Syngas; DLE; NOx; Combustion; Gas Turbine; PIV; PLIF; Pilot; SGT-750; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Whiddon;

    Sammanfattning : The matured laser-diagnostic techniques of planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) and particle image velocimetry (PIV) were applied to a prototype gas turbine burner operating on various fuels. The work was performed to provide verification of computational fluid dynamic (CFD) models of the combustion of atypical fuels in a gas turbine combustor. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Development of Laser-Spectroscopic Techniques for New Detection Schemes in Combustion Diagnostics

    Författare :Johan Zetterberg; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser-Spectroscopy; Laser Combustion Diagnostics; Rayleigh scattering; FRS; LIF; Polarization Spectroscopy; PS; IRPS;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis work, aimed at the development of laser-spectroscopic detection schemes, consists of three parts, concerned with the development and application of different techniques. The development of UV filtered Rayleigh scattering (FRS) for thermometry and fuel/air ratio measurements, using a frequency tripled, single-longitudinal-mode alexandrite laser at ~254 nm together with an isotopically enhanced mercury filter, is examined first.
