  1. 21. Dynamic Train/Track Interaction: Simulation of Railhead Corrugation Growth under a Moving Bogie Using Mathematical Models Combined with Full-Scale Measurements

    Författare :Annika Igeland; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; railhead corrugation growth; railway and track irregularities; railway dynamics and measurements; train track interaction; complex-valued modal analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Heavier trains and higher speeds have increased the need for high-quality tracks and vehicles in order to fulfill safety and environmental requests. The phenomena involved in dynamic train/track interaction lead to noise radiation, induce ground-borne vibrations and degrade the track structure and the railcar wheels. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Shells and filament in flows

    Författare :Vipin Agrawal; Dhrubaditya Mitra; Supriya Krishnamurthy; Gerhard Gompper; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chaos; Elastic filaments; Shells; Exosomes; Stokes flow; Theoretical Physics; teoretisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The motivation to study elastic structures such as filaments and shells stemmed from its application in the construction of tall buildings, bridges etc. Interest in this field has rekindled in the past decades due to growing interest in understanding biological materials and because of possible applications in nanoscience and medicine. 3. 23. Advanced Fluid-Structure Interaction Modelling and Simulation for Aerospace Applications

    Författare :Stefan Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aeroacoustics; Hybrid RANS-LES; CSD; cavity flow; aeroelastics; CFD; FSI;

    Sammanfattning : Numerical fluid-structure interaction (FSI) methods for the prediction of aeroelastic phenomena are important within aerospace. The continuous development of computer technologies has enabled the use of more advanced FSI methods. The use of advanced methods has the potential to provide more accurate predictions. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Elastic Wave Scattering by Cracks - Interfacial Forces and High Frequency Diffraction

    Författare :Gert Persson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ultrasonic testing; Wiener-Hopf calculations; Geometrical Theory of Diffraction; edge diffracted body waves; PEDGE; two-dimensional diffraction; geometrical elastodynamic waves;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis treats elastic wave scattering by cracks with interfacial forces. The results are of practical interest in ultrasonic testing and includes development of numerical methods used to predict such testing. First the canonical problem of two-dimensional (2-D) diffraction from a semi-infinite crack is solved. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Microcracking in fiber composites and degradation of thermo-elastic properties of laminates

    Författare :Mohamed Sahbi Loukil; Janis Varna; Zoubir Ayadi; Peter Lundmark; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymeric Composite Materials; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : The macroscopic failure of composite laminates subjected to tensile increasing load is preceded by initiation and evolution of several microdamage modes. The most common damage mode and the one examined in this thesis is intralaminar cracking in layers. LÄS MER
