41. A study of micro-particles in the dust and melt at different stages of iron and steelmaking
Sammanfattning : The dust particles generated due to mechanical wear of iron ore pellets and clusters formed in molten stainless steel alloyed with rare earth metals (REM) are considered in this study. Firstly, the influence of the characteristics of iron ore pellets, applied load on a pellet bed and partial reduction of the pellets on the size distribution of the generated dust was investigated. 42. Transport of mineral dust into the Arctic : Evaluation of two reanalysis datasets of atmospheric composition
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this thesis is to examine the mineral dust aerosol transport into the Arctic. Two three-dimensional reanalysis datasets of atmospheric composition, the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service reanalysis (CAMSRA) and the Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications, version 2 (MERRA-2), are analyzed with regard to dust transport into the Arctic. 43. In silico Identification of Thyroid Disrupting Chemicals : among industrial chemicals and household dust contaminants
Sammanfattning : Thyroid disruptions by xenobiotics have been associated with a broad spectrum of severe adverse human health effects, such as impaired brain development and metabolic syndrome. Ingestion of indoor dust and contact with industrial chemicals are two significant human exposure routes of thyroid hormone disrupting chemicals (THDCs), raising serious concerns for human health. 44. Gas and dust in early galaxy evolution
Sammanfattning : In order to study the content of distant galaxies without focusing solely on the brightest objects -- the tip of the iceberg -- I developed a tool: LineStacker. As its name indicates this tool was designed to perform spectral stacking analyses. LÄS MER
45. Circumstellar dust emission from nearby Solar-type stars
Sammanfattning : Far-infrared excess above the photosphere of a star indicates the presence of a circumstellar dust disc which is a sign-post for extrasolar planets, and was first detected in the mid 1980s. Dust discs are intricately connected to planets and planetesimals, give insights in the dynamics and evolution of the system, and are also useful for future exoplanet-observations. LÄS MER
