Background: It is debated whether temporary employment compared to permanent employment entails an elevated risk of illness or not, as the empirical studies have not shown a unified picture. Since a significant part of the Swedish workforce is currently working under temporary employment contracts, it is important for public health research to pay close attention to what the implications in terms of illness might be. Introduction: Chronic illness is an increasingly predominant problem among the world population which vastly impacts on physical and mental health, quality of life and social functioning. Although chronic illnesses merit a long-term and complex response which would be ideally delivered by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals, most of the current healthcare for chronic illnesses still focus on acute episodes of illness. Background and aim: In society there is a growing awareness that a vital factor for patientswith chronic diseases, such as head and neck cancer (HNC), is how well they are able to function in their every day lives – a common, but often overlooked, public health issue. The overall aim of this thesis is to reach a deeper understanding of living with HNC and to identify the experiences that patients felt promoted their health and well-being. LÄS MER

The majority live in rural areas where socioeconomic status is more disadvantaged than in urban areas.Vietnam’s economic status is improving but disparities in income and living conditions are widening between groups and regions.
