16. Holographic Wilson Loops : Quantum String Corrections
Sammanfattning : The gauge-string duality has been one of the most exciting areas in theoretical physics as it connects strongly coupled field theories with weakly interacting strings. The present thesis concerns the study of Wilson loops in this correspondence. LÄS MER
17. Phylogenetic perspective on host plant use, colonization and speciation in butterflies
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we have studied speciation in three butterfly genera Polygonia (Nymphalidae, Nymphalini), Pararge (Nymphalidae, Satyrinae) and Celastrina (Lycaenidae: Polyommatinae). In the first paper a dated phylogeny, based on molecular data, of Polygonia was constructed. We found strong conflict between the nDNA and mtDNA datasets. LÄS MER
18. Lean Implementation : the significance of people and dualism
Sammanfattning : Lean, with its origins at the Toyota Motor Company, is a concept that is known to increase effectiveness in manufacturing. The Lean concept is now argued to be relevant not only in manufacturing but in service and health-care delivery as well. The reported results of Lean implementation efforts are divided. LÄS MER
19. Phenomenology of new Neutral Vector Bosons and Parton Distributions from Hadronic Fluctuations
Sammanfattning : The Higgs particle was first predicted in 1964, and was discovered in the summer of 2012 at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This discovery was the latest in a long list of successful Standard Model predictions spanning the last fifty years. LÄS MER
20. Column Development in Capillary Electrophoresis and Electrochromatography for Bioanalytical Applications
Sammanfattning : Analysis of biological samples can be a difficult task. This thesis covers a broad aspect of the analytical areas of capillary electrophoresis (CE) and capillary electrochromatography (CEC) in combination with mass spectrometry (MS) that are of great importance for achieving fast, accurate and sensitive bioanalyses.
