26. Shining Light on Molecules : Electron Transfer Processes in Model Systems for Solar Energy Conversion Investigated by Transient Absorption Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : In the recent years, solar energy conversion has attracted a huge research interest due to the potential application for limiting the greenhouse effect. In many solar cells and solar fuel cells, understanding of charge transfer (CT) and recombination is important for future improvement of the overall efficiency. LÄS MER
27. Developing molecular tools for probing and modulating genomic spatial adjacency
Sammanfattning : In addition to the vast information encoded in DNA sequence, the genome has physical features that are also essential for its function, including its organization in threedimensional space. The development of high-throughput technology has greatly advanced our understanding of the spatial organization of the genome but has also raised more questions. LÄS MER
28. Ground Object Recognition using Laser Radar Data : Geometric Fitting, Performance Analysis, and Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns detection and recognition of ground object using data from laser radar systems. Typical ground objects are vehicles and land mines. For these objects, the orientation and articulation are unknown. The objects are placed in natural or urban areas where the background is unstructured and complex. LÄS MER
29. Reconfigurable and Wideband Receiver Components for System-on-Chip Millimetre-Wave Radiometer Front-Ends
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents solutions and studies related to the design of reconfigurable and wideband receiver circuits for system-on-chip (SoC) radiometer front-ends within the millimetre-wave (mm-wave) range. Whereas many of today’s mm-wave front-ends are bulky and costly due to having discrete RF components, single-chip receiver modules could potentially result in a wider use for emerging applications such as wireless communication, short range radar and passive imaging security sensors if realised with adequate performances and at a lower cost. 30. On Probabilistic Shaping and Learned Decoders with Application to Fiber-Optic Communications
Sammanfattning : We live in an ubiquitously connected world whose backbone are optical fibers. Achieving high spectral efficiencies and hence high transmission rates requires a careful combination of forward error correction (FEC) and higher-order modulation. This is referred to as coded modulation. LÄS MER
