21. Lipid Self-Assembly and Lipase Action
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the action of the Thermomyces lanuginosa lipase (TLL) on "real" substrates, that is, lipid aggregates - vesicles, micelles, emulsions, gels and liquid crystals is discussed. Even for a pure triolein, the system becomes quite complex as the lipolytic process starts, both in terms of structure and composition, involving 5 additional components - diolein (DO), monoolein (MO), oleic acid (OA), sodium oleate (NaO) and glycerol . 22. PEG and lipids in solid dispersions and liquid crystals - structure and phase behaviour
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, two different kinds of nano-structured systems have been studied; solid dispersion systems of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and liquid crystalline systems containing the polar lipids monoolein (MO) and phytantriol (PT). Solid dispersions of PEG were studied with addition of different substances, lipids or parabens. LÄS MER
23. Effect of metal and cubic carbide additions on interface chemistry, phase composition and grain growth in WC-Co based cemented carbides
Sammanfattning : A cemented carbide is a composite material used in metal cutting operations. A hardness providing WC-based skeleton is embedded in a toughness providing binder, mainly consisting of Co. The material is produced by powder metallurgical methods. LÄS MER
24. Theoretical studies of phase stabilities and electronic structure in molybdenum carbide
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis presents theoretical research on the molybdenum carbide system using first principles, total energy methods. Firstly relative stabilities of the four experimentally verified MoC phases: the cubic $\delta$(NaCl) phase and the three h... LÄS MER
25. Studies of systems related to high-Tc superconductors by electron microscopy and X-ray powder diffraction
Sammanfattning : New cuprate systems related to high temperature superconductors have been investigated and are reviewed. The synthesized samples have been studied mainly by transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectrometry and X-ray powder diffraction, in order to determine composition and structure of the formed phases.
