1. Lipid Self-Assembly and Lipase Action
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the action of the Thermomyces lanuginosa lipase (TLL) on "real" substrates, that is, lipid aggregates - vesicles, micelles, emulsions, gels and liquid crystals is discussed. Even for a pure triolein, the system becomes quite complex as the lipolytic process starts, both in terms of structure and composition, involving 5 additional components - diolein (DO), monoolein (MO), oleic acid (OA), sodium oleate (NaO) and glycerol . 2. An epidemiological and virological study on mosquito-borne flavivirus transmission : The role of urban livestock keeping and the risk for mosquito-borne zoonotic diseases in humans in Hanoi city, Vietnam
Sammanfattning : Mosquito-borne diseases (MBDs), which are transmitted by the bite of mosquitoes to humans, are causing high morbidity and mortality worldwide and are emerging in many tropical cities. Urban livestock keeping is still growing in cities around the world, which can itself contribute to increasing the mosquito populations. LÄS MER
3. Aspects of Flexographic Print Quality and Relationship to some Printing Parameters
Sammanfattning : Flexographic printing is a common printing method in the packaging field. The printing method is characterized primarily by the flexible printing plate and the low viscosity inks which make it suitable for use on almost any substrate. LÄS MER
4. Tick-borne diseases and the central nervous system : clinical and immunological aspects
Sammanfattning : Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB) is the dominating form of disseminated infection by the tick-borne bacteria Borrelia (B.) burgdorferi in Sweden as well as in Europe. LÄS MER
5. The influence of urban livestock-keeping on the epidemiology of mosquito-borne zoonotic flaviviruses in Hanoi city of Vietnam
Sammanfattning : In rapid urbanizing cities, the high density of livestock populations in close vicinity to humans, and high mosquito vector abundance have provided suitable conditions for transmission of mosquito-borne zoonotic flaviviruses, that cause several million cases of human disease annually. This thesis explores the urban livestock-keeping in Hanoi and its potential influence on the epidemiology of flavivirus infections. LÄS MER
