16. Targeting immune and desmoplastic tumor microenvironment to sensitize gynecological cancer cells to therapy
Sammanfattning : Cancer is a pervasive global threat that manifests with diverse clinical attributes and notable mortality rates, particularly attributable to its metastatic potential in solid cancers. These tumours encompass various types including epithelial cancers like high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) and mesenchymal cancers like uterine sarcomas (USs). LÄS MER
17. Muscle cell integrins in vitro and in vivo : Identification and characterisation of a novel integrin, α11β1
Sammanfattning : Integrins are heterodimeric receptors composed of non-covalently associated αand β subunits which have distinct functions on different cell types. α7β1integrin is an important laminin receptor in skeletal muscle. The mRNA andprotein expression patterns of α7A and α7B splice variants during mousedevelopment were studied. LÄS MER
18. Stress urinary incontinence in women : pathophysiological aspects
Sammanfattning : Objective: The pathophysiology of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is multifactorial. In this thesis biochemical and ultrastructural changes in the paraurethral supporting connective tissue and changes in the innervation of the vaginal wall in relation to SUI have been focused upon. 19. Multifunctional biomimetic materials for corneal regeneration
Sammanfattning : The cornea is the outermost layer of the eye, which is responsible for transmitting 95% of the incident light to the retina for vision and provides 70% of the focusing power of the eye. Corneal disease is a primary cause of blindness worldwide. LÄS MER
20. The prostanoid FP receptor and uveoscleral outflow : A study of FP receptor expression and functions in the eye
Sammanfattning : Prostaglandin F2α is a prostanoid FP receptor agonist which acts as an intraocular pressure-lowering agent by increasing the uveoscleral outflow of aqueous humour through the ciliary muscle. The aim of this, thesis was to investigate possible mechanisms of the increased uveoscleral outflow induced by prostaglandin F2α and its analogue latanoprost acid. LÄS MER
