  1. 21. Seasonal variation of road runoff in cold climate

    Författare :Camilla Westerlund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis was to characterize and study the behaviour and transport of pollutants, i.e., suspended solids, particles and heavy metals, in road runoff from a small urban catchment during snowmelt and rainfall. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Event stratigraphy for the Last Glacial-Holocene transition in eastern middle Sweden

    Författare :Jonas Björck; Michael J.C Walker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Last Glacial-Holocene transition; event stratigraphy; eastern middle Sweden; pollen; plant macrofossils; marine calcareous fossils; microtephra; radiocarbon dating; clay varve chronology; GRIP; ice-core chronology; calendar year chronology; Preboreal oscillation; Yoldia Sea; Baltic Ice Lake; Quaternary Geology; kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis outlines an event stratigraphy for the Last Glacial-Holocene transition in eastern middle Sweden. Events are short-lived occurrences that have left traces in the geological record and which, therefore, may be used for correlation and inter-regional comparisons. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Uncovering the Past through ancient DNA : The Fate and Legacy of the last hunter-gatherers in Western Europe and Northwestern Africa

    Författare :Luciana G. Simões; Mattias Jakobsson; Torsten Günther; Cristina Valdiosera; Emma Svensson; Martin Sikora; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; human evolution; archaeogenomics; ancient DNA; population genetics; hunter-gatherer; Populationsbiologi; Population Biology; Genetik; Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The genetic analysis of ancient human remains has revolutionized the study of human history, opening a direct window onto the demographic and evolutionary events that shaped our species' past. I use state-of-the-art ancient DNA methodologies, from sample collection and DNA extraction to data analysis, to study the ancient past of the western Mediterranean region, where climate does not favour DNA preservation. 4. 24. Holocene Climate in Central and Southern Sweden : Quantitative Reconstructions from Fossil Data

    Författare :Karin Antonsson; Keith Bennett; Heikki Seppä; Andy Lotter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Quaternary geology; pollen analysis; climate reconstructions; transfer functions; vegetation dynamics; Sweden; Kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : In quantitative palaeoecology modern species-environmental relationships can be statistically modelled, and recent development has made the calibration models more statistically robust. These models are used to transform fossil assemblages to quantitative estimates of past environmental conditions. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Flood Hazard Assessment in Data-Scarce Basins : Use of alternative data and modelling techniques

    Författare :Diana Fuentes-Andino; Sven Halldin; Chong-Yu Xu; Keith Beven; Giuliano Di Baldassarre; Wouter Buytaert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Central America; floods; data scarcity; data quality; uncertainty analysis; regionalisation; flood frequency analysis; GLUE; hydraulic modelling; rainfall-runoff modeling; TOPMODEL; LISFLOOD-FP; GRADEX; index-flood; Muskingum-Cunge-Todini flow routing; Mellanamerika; högflöde; datakvalitet; osäkerhetsanalys; regionalisering; frekvensanalys av högflöden; GLUE; hydraulisk modellering; nederbörds-avrinningsmodeller; TOPMODEL; LISFLOOD-FP; GRADEX; indexflöde; Muskingum-Cunge-Todini flödessvarstid; Central América; inundaciones; escasez de datos; calidad de los datos; análisis de incertidumbre; regionalización; análisis de frequencia de inundación; GLUE; modelación hidraulica; modelo de lluvia-escorrentía; TOPMODEL; LISFLOOD-FP; GRADEX; índice de inundación; Muskingum-Cunge-Todini rutina de propagación de flujo;

    Sammanfattning : Flooding is of great concern world-wide, causing damage to infrastructure, property and loss of life. Low-income countries, in particular, can be negatively affected by flood events due to their inherent vulnerabilities. Moreover, data to perform studies for flood risk management in low-income regions are often scarce or lacking sufficient quality. LÄS MER
