  1. 1. Holocene Climate in Central and Southern Sweden : Quantitative Reconstructions from Fossil Data

    Författare :Karin Antonsson; Keith Bennett; Heikki Seppä; Andy Lotter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Quaternary geology; pollen analysis; climate reconstructions; transfer functions; vegetation dynamics; Sweden; Kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : In quantitative palaeoecology modern species-environmental relationships can be statistically modelled, and recent development has made the calibration models more statistically robust. These models are used to transform fossil assemblages to quantitative estimates of past environmental conditions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Present and Past Coastal Dune Environments of South Buenos Aires Province, Argentina

    Författare :Sonia L. Fontana; Keith D. Bennett; Sara C. Ballent; Marie-José Gaillard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quaternary geology; pollen; ostracods; dune vegetation; Holocene; Buenos Aires Province; Argentina; Kvartärgeologi; Quaternary geology; Kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to describe present and past coastal dune environments in southern Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The present vegetation of a dune system and its zonation are described on the basis of air photographs, physiognomy of the dune system and floristic composition. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Holocene Spread of Spruce in Scandinavia

    Författare :Thomas Giesecke; Keith Bennett; Richard Bradshaw; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quaternary geology; Picea abies; pollen analyses; tree migration; population dynamics; Kvartärgeologi; Quaternary geology; Kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : The Holocene spread of Picea abies in Scandinavia provides an excellent opportunity for detailed study of the dynamics of tree spread and population expansion. Early- and mid-Holocene macrofossil evidence for the presence of Picea abies in Scandinavia has questioned traditional interpretations of the timing and direction of its spread. LÄS MER
