  2. 12. Guardians of the genome : Connecting chromatin structure and genome integrity in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Författare :Stefanie Lena Bauer; Stefan U. Åström; Brian Luke; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Branched DNA structures arise during recombination and during other DNA repair processes such as repair of stalled replication forks. One branched structure, the Holliday Junction (HJ), is a four-way junction that can connect sister chromatids or homologous chromosomes. We show a physical interaction between the HJ-cleaving enzyme Yen1 and Uls1. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Chromatin remodelling and gene regulation

    Författare :Birgitta Gelius; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Chromatin plays an important role in gene regulation, as it forms an obstacle for a number of proteins that need access to the DNA. Several protein complexes that open up the chromatin structure have been identified and some of these are important for gene regulation. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Molecular mechanisms underlying the activation of ALC1 nucleosome remodeling

    Författare :Luka Bacic; Sebastian Deindl; Stefan D. Knight; Lari Lehtiö; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Packaging DNA into chromatin represses essential DNA-based processes, such as transcription, DNA replication, and repair. To change the accessibility of DNA, cells have evolved a set of enzymes referred to as chromatin remodelers that act on the basic repeat unit of chromatin,  the nucleosome. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Epigenetic Regulation and Reprogramming of the H19 Imprinting Control Region

    Författare :Piero Mariano; Rolf Ohlsson; Karl Ekwall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Imprinting; chromatin; H19; Igf2; CTCF; Insulator; methylation; Boris; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The development of a new individual from the fertilized oocyte can ultimately be seen as the consequence of the establishment and maintenance of specific patterns of gene expression. Although regulation of gene activity occurs at different levels, cellular specialization and differentiation are the results of developmental cues that essentially take place at the transcriptional level.
