  1. 16. Role of Caveolae and miRNAs in Regulation of Urinary Bladder Function

    Författare :Mardjaneh Karbalaei; Cellulär biomekanik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The urinary bladder is responsible for storage and expulsion of urine. Proper urination depends on an ability of the bladder to adjust to increasing volume and to contract during micturition. A disturbance of bladder contractility may affect continence. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Aquaporins in Infection and Inflammation

    Författare :Angelika Holm; Elena Vikström; Karl-Eric Magnusson; Vesa Loitto; Jonas Wetterö; Mikael Rhen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The ability of eukaryotic cells to change their shape and to migrate directionally is highly dependent on active volume regulation in cells building up tissues as well as in individual cells. Transmembrane fluxes of water via specialized water channels, called aquaporins (AQPs), facilitate the changes of volume and shape, which additionally require a complex interplay between the plasma membrane and the cytoskeleton. 3. 18. Early effects of castration therapy in non-malignant and malignant prostate tissue

    Författare :Nina Ohlson; Pernilla Wikström; Anders Bergh; Pär Stattin; Marja Nevalainen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; human biopsies; androgen ablation; stroma; epithelium; micro-dissection; PSA; IGF-1; IGF-R1; AR; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Early Effects of Castration Therapy in Non-malignant and Malignant Prostate Tissue BACKGROUND. Androgen ablation, the standard treatment for advanced prostate cancer, results in increased apoptosis, decreased cell proliferation and subsequent involution of the prostate gland. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Lutetium-177-octreotate treatment of small intestine neuroendocrine tumors - Radiation biology as basis for optimization

    Författare :Johan Spetz; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy; PRRT; somatostatin receptors; SSTR; midgut carcinoid; radiogenomics;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) often have metastatic spread at the time of diagnosis. NETs frequently express somatostatin receptors (SSTR) that can be targeted by radiolabeled somatostatin analogs (e.g. 177Lu-octreotate). LÄS MER

  5. 20. Studies on anti-leukemic terpenoids from medicinal mushrooms and marine sponges with ChemGPS-NP-based targets investigation of lead compounds

    Författare :Kuei-Hung Lai; Anders Backlund; Christina Wedén; Fang-Rong Chang; Yang-Chang Wu; Nicholas Oberlies; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the anti-leukemic activity of terpenoids isolated from medicinal mushrooms and marine sponges, as well as their possible targets and mechanisms of action.In the first section, we focused on studying the triterpenoidal components of three triterpenoid-enriched medicinal mushrooms Antrodia cinnamomea, Ganoderma lucidum, and Poria cocos, which have been used in folk medicine for centuries and also developed into several contemporary marketed products.
