  1. 11. Molecular mechanisms underlying the actions of psychoactive drugs in the basal ganglia : focus on cannabinoids and morphine

    Författare :Anders Borgkvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is centered on the identification of the molecular mechanisms involved in the psychomotor effects of cannabinoids and morphine. These drugs share the ability of acting at the level of the basal ganglia, a group of subcortical structures involved in the control of locomotion, as well as in cognitive and motivational aspects of motor function. 2. 12. Studies of cannabinoid receptor 1 in mantle cell lymphoma

    Författare :Kristin Gustafsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a malignant B-cell lymphoma that affects older individuals and has a male predominance. MCL has one of the worst prognoses among lymphomas and currently there is a search for a curative therapy. LÄS MER

  3. 13. The role of cannabinoid receptors, G alpha z, and B cell receptor in lymphoma pathobiology with focus on chemotaxis

    Författare :Magali Merrien; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) are two incurable B cell malignancies, with an overall survival of 5 to 8 years and 6 to 10 years, respectively. Therapies are available but are often very aggressive, and patients relapse due to minimal residual disease. LÄS MER

  4. 14. The endocannabinoid system : a translational study from Achilles tendinosis to cyclooxygenase

    Författare :Emmelie Björklund; Christopher Fowler; Peter Zygmunt; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The endogenous cannabinoids anandamide (arachidonoyl ethanolamide, AEA) and 2-arachidonoyl glycerol (2-AG) exert their effect by activating cannabinoid receptors (CB). These receptors mediate a broad range of physiological functions such as beneficial effects in pain and inflammation, although little is known about the expression of CB receptors in human pain conditions. 5. 15. Endocannabinoids and N-acylethanolamines in translational pain research : from monoacylglycerol lipase to muscle pain

    Författare :Nazdar Ghafouri; Christopher J Fowler; Andrew SC Rice; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Monoacylglycerol lipase; endocannabinoid; palmitoylethanolamide; N-acylethanolamines; microdialysis; chronic widespread pain; muscle pain; trapezius;

    Sammanfattning : In the early nineties cannabinoid receptors, the main target for Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of marijuana were identified. Shortly after their endogenous ligands, N-arachidonoylethanolamine (anandamide, AEA) and 2-diacylglycerol (2-AG) were characterized. LÄS MER
