  1. 11. Engineering and Functionalization of Hemicellulose Hydrogels

    Författare :Weifeng Zhao; Karin Odelius; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Ulrica Edlund; Tina Vermonden; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Hemicellulose; O-acetyl-galactoglucomannan; hydrogels; stimuli-responsive; aniline tetramer; aniline pentamer; electro-active; conductivity; pH-sensitivity; magnetic field-responsive; micro-gels; swelling; drug delivery.; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Hemicellulose is the second most abundant component in wood and is an important renewable resource  that is used in films, paper composites and biofuels.  Hemicelluloses  have  several  advantages,  including  their abundance,  degradability  and  renewability. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Minimally-invasive breast interventions : methods for high yield, low risk, precision biopsy and curative thermal ablation

    Författare :Kai-Uwe Schässburger; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Advances in medical imaging and the introduction of population-based screening programs have increased the detection rate and overall proportion of small breast tumors. In addition, progress in technology and medical science, in combination with efforts to minimize morbidity, have resulted in the emergence of minimally invasive image-guided interventional procedures for both diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. 3. 13. Kostmann syndrome : a clinical and pathophysiological study

    Författare :Göran Carlsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Kostmann syndrome; severe congenital neutropenia; autosomal recessive; periodontitis; antibacterial peptides; LL-3 7; apoptosis; Bcl-2; granulocyte colony-stimulating factor; glycosylation; lenograstim; filgrastim.;

    Sammanfattning : Kostmann syndrome or severe congenital neutropenia (SCN) is a rare disease, usually diagnosed during the first months of life, characterized by extremely low levels of neutrophils in the peripheral blood, a maturational arrest of the myelopoiesis in the bone marrow and severe bacterial infections. The purpose of this project was to improve the understanding of the clinical course and the pathophysiology of autosomal recessive SCN. LÄS MER

  4. 14. On guided bone reformation in the maxillary sinus to enable placement and integration of endosseous implants. Clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Giovanni Cricchio; Stefan Lundgren; Lars Sennerby; Gerry Raghoebar; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :bone grafting; donor morbidity; iliac crest; dental implants; membrane elevation; maxillary sinus floor elevation;

    Sammanfattning : Dental caries and periodontal disease are the major causes for tooth loss. While dental caries commonly involve the posterior teeth in both jaws, the teeth most commonly lost due to periodontal problems are the first and second molars in the maxilla. As a consequence, the upper posterior jaw is frequently edentulous. LÄS MER
