VE is an important obstetric instrument that is used when shortening of the second stage of labor is necessary.     Sammanfattning : Preterm birth (PTB), before 37 completed weeks of gestation, is the principal risk factor for neonatal morbidity and mortality. In Sweden about 5.6% of pregnant women deliver preterm.
