26. Adsorption of nonionic amphiphiles to solid surfaces
Sammanfattning : In this study, the adsorption of nonionic amphiphiles from aqueous solutions to solid, planar surfaces is investigated using null ellipsometry. This technique allows independent measurements of the amounts adsorbed at the surface and of the mean optical thickness of the adsorbed layer. LÄS MER
27. Association Phenomena Involving Hydrophobically Modified Polymers. Electrostatic and Hydrophobic Contributions
Sammanfattning : The electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions in aqueous solutions of hydrophobically-modified water-soluble non-ionic or ionic polymers, their mixtures with a second polymer, nonionic or of opposite charge, and their mixtures with surfactants of opposite charge have been investigated. The relative strength of the electrostatic and hydrophobic contributions has been modulated by a variation of the polymer charge density and the solution pH, and by a variation in the degree and strength of the hydrophobic modifications, respectively. 28. Rotational Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy: Experimental and Theoretical Developments in Gas-phase Thermometry
Sammanfattning : Dual-broadband pure rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy was investigated in terms of thermometry and species concentration measurement for studies of combustion. The modelling of rotational CARS spectra under conditions of high pressure at room temperature was investigated. LÄS MER
29. Thin films of molecular sieves : synthesis and applications
Sammanfattning : The seed film method for synthesis of ultra thin and thin molecular sieve films was developed. The versatility of the method was demonstrated by successful preparation of films of a number of molecular sieves (silicate-1, ZSM-5, NA) on various supports (silicon, alumina, gold, etc.). LÄS MER
30. Microfluidics at High Pressures : Understanding, Sensing, and Control
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores understanding, sensing, and control in high-pressure microfluidics. The high-pressure regime allows fluids to be forced through narrow channels at substantial speed and creates conditions for fluids of high density and low viscosity—features desired in flow-based chemical analyses.
