6. Self Assembled Monolayers for Quartz Crystal Microbalance based Biosensing
Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis has been focused on developing surfaces for use in biosensor systems, especially for quartz crystal microbalances. The surfaces were prepared by adsorption of organosulfur molecules onto gold substrates, so called self assembled monolayers (SAMs). LÄS MER
7. Quantitative Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a very attractive technique for detection of various organic and inorganic molecules due to its sensitivity and selectivity. The surface enhancement is achieved when the molecules of interest are on or in the vicinity of a metal surface, usually gold and silver. LÄS MER
8. Adsorption of molecular thin films on metal and metal oxide surfaces
Sammanfattning : Metal and metal oxides are widely used in industry, and to optimize their performance their surfaces are commonly functionalized by the formation of thin films. Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) are deposited on metals or metal oxides either from solution or by gas deposition. LÄS MER
9. Heterogeneous electron transfer studies with ligninolytic redox enzymes and living bacteria. Applications in biosensors and biofuel cells
Sammanfattning : The catalytic properties and the inter-domain electron transfer of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) from the ascomycete fungus Myriococcum thermophilum adsorbed on graphite and thiol (SAM) modified gold electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, flow injection amperometry and UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry. The fabrication and characterisation of a noncompartmentalised, mediator and cofactor free glucose–oxygen biofuel cell well-operating in glucose-containing buffers and human blood serum was performed. 10. Multistability, Ionic Doping, and Charge Dynamics in Electrosynthesized Polypyrrole, Polymer-Nanoparticle Blend Nonvolatile Memory, and Fixed p-i-n Junction Polymer Light-Emitting Electrochemical Cells
Sammanfattning : A variety of factors make semiconducting polymers a fascinating alternative for both device development and new areas of fundamental research. Among these are solution processability, low cost, flexibility, and the strong dependence of conduction on the presence of charge compensating ions. LÄS MER
