  1. 6. Sarcoidosis : inflammatory mechanisms and markers of activity

    Författare :Anders Planck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Sarcoidosis; HLA class II; T-lymphocytes; CD4-CD8 ratio; T cell receptor; angiotensin-converting enzyme; apoptosis;

    Sammanfattning : Sarcoidosis is a disease characterized by an accumulation of CD4+ T-lymphocytes in affected organs. Previous findings of an association between the HLA-allele DR17 and an accumulation in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of CD4+ T-lymphocytes expressing the T-cell receptor (TCR) V gene segment AV2S3, is in line with an aetiological hypothesis claiming that sarcoidosis is elicited by a specific antigen(s) in genetically predisposed individuals. 2. 7. Reproductive and lifestyle risk factors for sarcoidosis

    Författare :Marina Dehara; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Sarcoidosis is a systemic inflammatory condition with an unknown origin, characterized by the formation of granulomatous lesions primarily in the lungs and lymphatic system. Despite over a century since it was first described, our understanding of its etiology remains limited. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Respiratory mononuclear phagocytes during steady state and sarcoidosis

    Författare :Rico Lepzien; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Each day, our lungs inhale thousands of liters of air containing not only essential oxygen but also smoke particles, dust, allergens, and potentially dangerous pathogens. In order to tolerate harmless antigens and initiate an immune response against pathogens, a well-organized network of immune cells is required in the respiratory tract. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Innate and adaptive immune responses in pulmonary sarcoidosis

    Författare :Maria Wikén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease characterized by formation of granulomas in various organs and tissues. Although it is a systemic disorder, the lungs are commonly affected, and an infiltration of T cells, in particular CD4pos T helper 1 (Th1) cells, is seen in the lower airways. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Immune responses in defined subgroups of patients with pulmonary sarcoidosis

    Författare :Farah Idali; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Sarcoidosis; Löfgren s syndrome; cytokine; regulatory T cell; TIM molecule; TLR;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on inflammatory responses in the airways of sarcoidosis patients. Sarcoidosis is a T helper 1-mediated inflammatory disease with unknown aetiology. HLA-DRB1*0301pos sarcoidosis patients often present with an acute form of disease, i.e. LÄS MER
