  1. 1. Experimental porcine models of retinal ischemia

    Författare :Håkan Morén; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; retinal ischemia; animal model; multifocal electroretinography; intraarterial coiling; retinal vasculature;

    Sammanfattning : Retinal ischaemia resulting from e.g. diabetes, vein thrombosis or arterial occlusion, is one of the major causes of visual impairment and blindness. Although new methods of treatment are being developed, there is still a need for more effective pharmacological forms of treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies on Retinal Circulation in Experimental Animals, Healthy Human Eyes and Eyes with Diabetic Retinopathy

    Författare :Lidija Tomić; Albert Alm; Einar Stefánsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Retinal Circulation; Labelled Microsphere Technique; Monkeys; Blue Field Simulation; Macular Leukocyte Velocity; Fluorescein Angiogram; Mean Transit Time; Impulse-Response Technique; Arterio-Venous Passage Time; Vessel Diameter; Oxygen; Carbin Dioxide; Diabetes Retinopathy; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi;

    Sammanfattning : The retina is a highly metabolically active tissue with large demands on the supply of nutrients. Disorders affecting the retina often include some vasculopathy with an impact on retinal circulation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Analysis of Angiographies in Human Healthy Eyes and in Open-angle Glaucoma : Retinal Mean Transit Time and Optic Nerve Head Circulation

    Författare :Gunilla Bjärnhall; Albert Alm; Göran Sperber; Selim Orgul; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi;

    Sammanfattning : Purpose of the studies was to develop a more robust technique to determine retinal mean transit time in healthy and in glaucoma eyes and to evaluate the circulation of the optic nerve head in glaucoma patients.The retinal mean transit time impulse-response method was evaluated in human healthy eyes and normal values and reproducibility were tested. 4. 4. Effects of Ischaemia on the Neuroretina and Retinal Blood Vessels

    Författare :Bodil Gesslein; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; protein kinase C; tumor necrosis factor; mitogen-activated protein kinases; pig; blood vessels; mfERG; Retinal ischaemia; vascular endothelial growth factor; hypoxia-inducible factor;

    Sammanfattning : Identification of the intracellular signal transduction pathways activated in retinal ischaemia may be important in revealing novel pharmacological targets. The retinal blood vessels are key organs in circulatory failure, and in this work the retinal vasculature was therefore examined separately from the neuroretina. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The cerebral circulation in preeclampsia : abnormalities in autoregulation and perfusion

    Författare :Michael A Belfort; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :preeclampsia; eclampsia; autoregulation; cerebral perfusion pressure; Doppler; central retinal artery; ophthalmic artery; middle cerebral artery; magnesium sulfate; nimodipine; headache; scotomata;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Eclampsia continues to be a major cause of maternal death. Abnormal cerebral blood flow and autoregulation may play an important role in the causation. Doppler ultrasound now allows assessment of the pathophysiology of preeclampsia, and the mechanisms of action of drugs used to treat it. LÄS MER
