  2. 7. Machine Learning Algorithms for Improved Glaucoma Diagnosis

    Författare :Dimitrios Bizios; Oftalmologi (Malmö); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Primary open angle glaucoma, one of the leading causes of blindness in the world, constitutes a slow progressing condition characterized by damage to the optic nerve and retinal nerve fibre layer, and results in visual field defects afflicting the visual function. Highly specific and sensitive diagnostic tests able to detect the clinically significant glaucomatous changes in the structure of the nerve fiber layer and visual field are therefore required for the early detection and management of this disease. 3. 8. Assessing Risks of Glaucoma

    Författare :Sigridur Oskarsdottir; Oftalmologi (Malmö); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glaucoma; Glaucoma stages; Ocular hypertension; Prevalence; Visual impairment; Prediction model; Lifetime risk; Undetected glaucoma; Screening;

    Sammanfattning : Glaucoma is a potentially blinding disease where the affected individual often firstnotices symptoms when the disease has reached a late stage. If glaucoma is detectedearly e.g., at screening, the risk for visual impairment can be reduced. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Visual Impairment and Vision-Related Quality of Life in Glaucoma

    Författare :Dorothea Peters; Oftalmologi (Malmö); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the impact of glaucoma on the patients’ vision from both a measurement based and a functionally based perspective. The risk of visual disability is probably the most important question for a newly diagnosed glaucoma patient and maintaining vision-related quality of life (VRQOL) has become the ultimate goal of glaucoma treatment. 5. 10. Clinical and Experimental Approach to the Benefits and Risks of Laser Treatment for Diabetic Macular Edema

    Författare :Poya T-Khani; Oftalmologi (Malmö); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diabetic macular edema; laser treatment; retinal pigment epithelium; ARPE-19; microarray; proteomics;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetic retinopathy is an ophthalmic complication of diabetes that currently affects 93 million people worldwide. Diabetic macular edema is a subtype of diabetic retinopathy that is characterized by leaking blood vessels in the central part of the retina, and it is a major cause of vision loss in individuals with diabetes.
