Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to find out whether other factors than the the light-dark changes influence the function of the pineal gland. Since melatonin (MT) itself, or its precursor serotonin, are of importance for sleep, mood, and pain perception, disease states - or situations in which these functions are disturbed - should be of interest to investigate in this context. 15. Immune response in human tonsil tissue
Sammanfattning : Pathogenic mechanisms responsible for tonsillar hypertrophy (TH) in children suffering from obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) were studied and compared with children with recurrent tonsillitis (RT) and infectious mononucleosis (IM), respectively. In an initial study the clinical consequences of OSAS caused by TH was investigated. LÄS MER
