  1. 6. Species Limits, and Evolutionary History of Glassfrogs

    Författare :Santiago Castroviejo-Fisher; Carles Vilà; Jennifer A. Leonard; Miguel Vences; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amphibia; Anura; Biogeography; Centrolenidae; Diversification; Frogs; Molecular Phylogenetics; Neotropics; Pristimantis; Speciation; Species; Systematics; Taxonomy; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; systematisk zoologi; Systematic Zoology;

    Sammanfattning : Recognizing the mechanisms of speciation and the limits of species is essential to understand the origin of biodiversity and how to conserve it. The general aims of my investigations during my doctoral studies were two-fold: to study evolutionary patterns and processes, and to provide specific and superspecific taxonomic classifications that try to reflect evolutionary history. 2. 7. Species Limits and Systematics in Some Passerine Birds

    Författare :Per Alström; Timothy M. Crowe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organismic biology; Mirafra; Seicercus; Phylloscopus; Motacilla; species concepts; species limits; phylogeny; morphology; vocalisations; mitochondrial DNA; nuclear DNA; incongruence; Organismbiologi; Organism biology; Organismbiologi; systematisk zoologi; Systematic Zoology;

    Sammanfattning : I use morphological, vocal, molecular, behavioural, ecological and distributional data to re-evaluate the systematics of three passerine bird groups, the Mirafraassamica complex (bush-larks), the genus Seicercus ("spectacled-warblers"; with emphasis on the the S. burkii complex) and the genus Motacilla (wagtails). 3. 8. Exploring the species boundaries in terrestrial clitellates (Annelida: Clitellata)

    Författare :Svante Martinsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oligochaeta; species delimitation; Clitellata; Annelida; DNA-barcoding; cryptic species; Enchytraeidae; Lumbricidae; Naididae;

    Sammanfattning : The biological diversity in the soil is much higher than most people can imagine, and a very important group of animals living there are earthworms and other clitellate worms. It has been found that several clitellate morphospecies are in fact complexes of so called cryptic species, and the number of species in this group may be much higher than previously believed. 4. 9. Disentangling Lecania

    Författare :Rikke Reese Næsborg; Leif Tibell; Stefan Ekman; Bengt Oxelman; Christian Printzen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biology; Crustose lichens; Phylogeny; Taxonomy; Morphology; New species; Phylogenetic diversity; Rare species; ITS; mt-SSU; RPB2; IGS; Biologi; Lecania; Ramalinaceae;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on phylogenetic, taxonomic, ecological, and conservation aspects of the crustose lichen genus Lecania (Ramalinaceae, lichenized Ascomycota). Lecania has previously been defined on basis of relatively few morphological characters, and the genus had never been treated in molecular phylogenies. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Diversity Underfoot : Systematics and Biogeography of the Dictyostelid Social Amoebae

    Författare :Allison L Perrigo; Sandra Baldauf; Maria Romeralo; David Bass; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amoeba; biogeography; cryptic species; dictyostelid; latitudinal gradient; multicellularity; protist; social amoeba; phylogenetics; systematics; new species; Biology with specialization in Systematics; Biologi med inriktning mot systematik;

    Sammanfattning : Dictyostelids (Amoebozoa) are a group of social amoebae consisting of approximately 150 species, which are found in terrestrial habitats worldwide. They are divided into eight major clades based on molecular phylogeny, and within these clades are many species complexes. LÄS MER
