  1. 1. Sphagnum limits : Physiology, morphology and climate

    Författare :Charles Campbell; Håkan Rydin; Gustaf Granath; Sebastian Sundberg; Bengt-Gunnar Jonsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sphagnum; ecology; bryophyte; winter; species distribution models; low temperature; plant structure; water economy; Biology with specialization in Ecological Botany; Biologi med inriktning mot ekologisk botanik;

    Sammanfattning : Sphagnum is the most important plant genus in terms of terrestrial carbon cycling. It and the habitats it creates store an equivalent of ~68% of the CO2 in the atmosphere. The genus has little dispersal limitation and the mire habitats are functionally similar at global scales. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Species Limits and Systematics in Some Passerine Birds

    Författare :Per Alström; Timothy M. Crowe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organismic biology; Mirafra; Seicercus; Phylloscopus; Motacilla; species concepts; species limits; phylogeny; morphology; vocalisations; mitochondrial DNA; nuclear DNA; incongruence; Organismbiologi; Organism biology; Organismbiologi; systematisk zoologi; Systematic Zoology;

    Sammanfattning : I use morphological, vocal, molecular, behavioural, ecological and distributional data to re-evaluate the systematics of three passerine bird groups, the Mirafraassamica complex (bush-larks), the genus Seicercus ("spectacled-warblers"; with emphasis on the the S. burkii complex) and the genus Motacilla (wagtails). 3. 3. Integrative taxonomy of birds : Studies into the nature, origin and delimitation of species

    Författare :George Sangster; Per G. P. Ericson; Martin Päckert; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aves; biogeography; integrative taxonomy; pluralism; ring species; speciation; species criteria; species limits; taxon chain; Systematic Zoology; zoologisk systematik och evolutionsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Species are the basic currency in biodiversity studies but what constitutes a species has long been controversial. A major breakthough was the insight that most systematists agree that species are segments of population lineages, and that multiple lines of evidence should be employed and integrated, a procedure called integrative taxonomy. 4. 4. Species Limits, and Evolutionary History of Glassfrogs

    Författare :Santiago Castroviejo-Fisher; Carles Vilà; Jennifer A. Leonard; Miguel Vences; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amphibia; Anura; Biogeography; Centrolenidae; Diversification; Frogs; Molecular Phylogenetics; Neotropics; Pristimantis; Speciation; Species; Systematics; Taxonomy; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; systematisk zoologi; Systematic Zoology;

    Sammanfattning : Recognizing the mechanisms of speciation and the limits of species is essential to understand the origin of biodiversity and how to conserve it. The general aims of my investigations during my doctoral studies were two-fold: to study evolutionary patterns and processes, and to provide specific and superspecific taxonomic classifications that try to reflect evolutionary history. 5. 5. Species Delimitation and Phylogenetic Relationships. A study of Silene sections Atocion and Cryptoneurae

    Författare :Zeynep Aydin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Caryophyllaceae; Silene; Section Atocion; S. ertekinii; S. cryptoneura; S. aegyptiaca; SystematicsPhylogenetics; Species delimitation; Multispecies coalescent; Marginal likelihood; Species tree; DISSECT.;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The existence of conflicting genealogies of different genes through the evolution of species complicates the inference of phylogenetic relationships. The Multispecies Coalescent (MSC) model provides a theoretical background that account for the stochasticity in the genealogical process, thus providing systematists with a potentially objective way of testing alternative hypotheses of putative species.
