  1. 16. Evaluation of suitable nursery areas for penaeid shrimps in shallow water systems in southern Mozambique

    Författare :Daniela de Abreu; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tropics; Southeast Africa; Shallow water; Estuaries; Nursery ground value; Decapods; Penaeidae; Carbon and nitrogen isotopes; Diet; Acetyl cholinesterase; Butyryl cholinesterase; Metals;

    Sammanfattning : Tropical shallow water habitats such as estuaries, mangrove forests and seagrass beds are important nursery areas for juveniles of many commercially important species including penaeid shrimp. Penaeids are one of the most important fishery resources worldwide, and in Mozambique they are the basis of a profitable commercial fishery, landing hundreds of tons per year. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Ecological connectivity in East African seascapes

    Författare :Charlotte Berkström; Nils Kautsky; Susan S. Bell; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fish; functional group; food-web interactions; nursery; coral; seagrass; mangrove; landscape ecology; marin ekotoxikologi; Marine Ecotoxicology;

    Sammanfattning : Coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangroves constitute a complex mosaic of habitats referred to as the tropical seascape. Great gaps exist in the knowledge of how these systems are interconnected. This thesis sets out to examine ecological connectivity, i.e. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Fissure-hosted mineral formation and metallogenesis in the Långban Fe-Mn-(Ba-As-Pb-Sb...) deposit, Bergslagen, Sweden

    Författare :Erik Jonsson; Ulf Hålenius; Tom Andersen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mineralogi; geologi; isotopgeokemi; mineraldiversitet; malmbildning; Palaeoproterozoikum; Bergslagen; Sverige; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The Långban deposit in the Bergslagen ore province is one of the most mineral-rich and complex localities on Earth. Yet, despite more than 100 years of research, much about its origin and evolution has remained unknown. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Benthic invertebrate food webs in the Baltic Sea : Anthropogenic pressure effects and methodological advancements

    Författare :Julie Garrison; Francisco Nascimento; Ángel Borja; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; food web; trophic network; detritivore; Baltic Sea; macrofauna; marinbiologi; Marine Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Trophic interactions are ecologically important, as they structure communities, and globally important for the ecosystem functions that they facilitate. Anthropogenic pressures are altering the structure of food webs, their stability, and resilience to change. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Deposit-feeding in benthic macrofauna : Tracer studies from the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Lars Byrén; Ragnar Elmgren; Lisa A. Levin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Deposit-feeding; Macrofauna; Baltic Sea; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : A low content of organic matter, which is largely refractory in nature, is characteristic of most sediments, meaning that aquatic deposit-feeders live on a very poor food source. The food is derived mainly from sedimenting phytodetritus, and in temperate waters like the Baltic Sea, from seasonal phytoplankton blooms. LÄS MER
