  1. 16. Nanocellulose and Metal-Organic Framework-Based Composites : Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications

    Författare :Shengyang Zhou; Chao Xu; Maria Strömme; Lars Wågberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nanocellulose; Metal–organic frameworks; Nanocomposites; Interfacial synthesis; Porous materials; Energy storage; Water purification;

    Sammanfattning : Nanocellulose is one of the most promising of the green materials available for use in a sustainable economy because of its natural abundance and renewability. Compared to petroleum‒derived synthetic polymers, nanocellulose has many unparalleled advantages such as its unique nanofibrous structure, high thermal stability, mechanical flexibility, rich surface chemistry, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. 2. 17. Spectroscopic studies of biomolecules confined in self-assembled nanostructures

    Författare :Nils Carlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis examines the effects of incorporating biomolecules into self-assembled nanostructures. This approach is exemplified by short DNA molecules in environments close to lipid bilayers and the immobilization of enzymes into mesoporous silica particles. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Spin and magneto transport in van der Waals heterostructures of graphene with ferromagnets

    Författare :Bogdan Karpiak; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing demand for information and communication technologies has augmented the requirements of electronic devices with improved speed, sensitivity, and reduced power consumption. The utilization of novel electronic materials and the use of the spin degree of freedom as a state variable for information processing and storage are expected to fulfill these demands. LÄS MER

    Författare :Wenxiao He; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; superstructure; lyotropic liquid crystal; self-assembly; Calcium phosphate; bone-like apatite; amphiphilic peptide; nanocomposite; biomimetic mineralization;

    Sammanfattning : The intercellular material in bone is a nanocomposite of aligned “hard” inorganics—calcium phosphate (CaP) platelets embedded in the long-range ordered “soft” organic collagen matrix. This elaborate structural arrangement redeems the weaknesses of the individual components (being soft protein or brittle mineral) and gives bone its excellent mechanical properties for the protection and support of our bodies. 5. 20. YBCO nanowires to study nanoscale ordering in High-Tc Superconductors

    Författare :Riccardo Arpaia; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanoscale ordering; nanoSQUIDs; nanowires; High-Tc superconductors; ultrathin films; oxygen doping; nanowire-based single photon detectors;

    Sammanfattning : We present the realization of YBa2Cu3O7-δ (YBCO) nanowires for both basic physics studies, which could help to elucidate the microscopic mechanisms of High critical Temperature Superconductors (HTS), and for novel applications.The first part of the thesis describes an improved nanopatterning procedure, based on e-beam lithography in combination with an amorphous carbon mask and a very gentle Ar+ ion etching.
