6. Phase field modeling of precipitation reactions in miscibility gap systems
Sammanfattning : As a backbone to the cutting tools and rock drilling industry, cemented carbides have been used widely due to their high hardness and wear resistance. Most commercially used cemented carbides contain a hard phase made of Tungsten carbide (WC) and a binder phase which is generally ductile. LÄS MER
7. Computational Free-Surface Flows Computational Techniques for Nonlinear Seepage Flow in Porous Media with Free and Moving Boundaries
Sammanfattning : Motion of a viscous fluid interface is encountered in many physical processes in engineering applications. The accurate representation and efficient numerical solution of the fluid interface are crucial problems in simulations of the physical processes in these applications. LÄS MER
8. Potential Flow Panel Methods for the Calculation of Free-surface Flows with Lift
Sammanfattning : Two non-linear Rankine-source panel methods are developed and implemented in the same computer code. The first method uses a four-point upwind operator on the free-surface to compute the velocity derivatives and to enforce the radiation condition while the second method uses an analytical expression for the velocity derivatives and a collocation point shift one panel upstream to prevent upstream waves. 9. Towards accurate modeling of moving contact lines
Sammanfattning : The present thesis treats the numerical simulation of immiscible incompressible two-phase flows with moving contact lines. The conventional Navier–Stokes equations combined with a no-slip boundary condition leads to a non-integrable stress singularity at the contact line. LÄS MER
10. Hot wire and PIV studies of transonic turbulent wall-bounded flows
Sammanfattning : The compressible turbulent boundary layer developing over atwo-dimensional bump which leads to a supersonic pocket with aterminating shock wave has been studied. The measurements havebeen made with hot-wire anemometry and Particle ImageVelocimetry (PIV). LÄS MER
