11. Models for capturing the penetration of a diffusant concentration into rubber : Numerical analysis and simulation
Sammanfattning : Understanding the transport of diffusants into rubber plays an important role in forecasting the material's durability. In this regard, we study different models, conduct numerical analysis, and present simulation results that predict the evolution of the penetration front of diffusants. LÄS MER
12. Computational modeling of oxygen-assisted fracture in nickel-based superalloys
Sammanfattning : Nickel-based superalloys are a commonly used material in applications where high strength is required at high temperatures. A typical such example is jet engines and, in the case of polycrystalline nickel-based superalloys, components like turbine disks. LÄS MER
13. Wind-wave interaction effects on offshore wind energy
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the investigation of the impacts of fast moving ocean surface waves on the aerodynamics of offshore wind turbines. The impacts of non-locally generated waves (swell) on the Marine Atmospheric BoundaryLayer (MABL) and thereby on offshore wind turbine aerodynamics are studied numerically by using Large Eddy Simulations and the Actuator Line Method. 14. Modelling of Moving Contact Lines in Two-Phase Flows
Sammanfattning : Moving contact line problems appear in many natural and industrial processes. A contact line is formed where the interface between two immiscible fluids meets a solid wall. Examples from everyday life include raindrops falling on a window and water bugs resting on water surfaces. LÄS MER
15. Dynamics of high-angle grain boundary YBCO Josephson junctions
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes experimental investigations of properties of high-angle YBa2Cu3O7−δ(YBCO)bicrystal Josephson junctions and SQUIDs fabricated on SrTiO3-substrates. The main focus of theinvestigation has been on the effects of the predominant d-wave symmetry of the superconductingwavefunction in YBCO on transport properties and dynamics. LÄS MER
