  1. 21. The Identification and Characterisation of LRIG Gene Family and Its Expression in Astrocytic Tumours

    Författare :Dongsheng Guo; Tomas Ekström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :astrocytoma; brain; EGFR; LRIG; leucine-rich repeat; real-time RT-PCR; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : Gliomas are the most common primary brain tumours, and their capacity to invade surrounding normal brain prevents complete removal of the tumour. Malignant glioma has still a poor prognosis. However, with the rapid development of molecular biology our understanding about glioma has increased dramatically. LÄS MER

  2. 22. PDGFB and P53 in brain tumorigenesis

    Författare :Sanna-Maria Hede; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma is the most common, and malignant form of brain tumor. It is characterized by a rapid growth and diffuse spread to surrounding brain tissue. The cell of origin is still not known, but experimental data suggest an origin from a glial precursor or neural stem cell. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Studies on microglia in tumor biology and neurobiology

    Författare :Xianli Shen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Microglia are innate immune cells that reside in the central nervous system (CNS). Their activities are critical for ensuring the correct microenvironment for brain development and for maintaining homeostasis in the brain after birth. LÄS MER

  4. 24. SNAP-25 and Cdk5 as exocytotic regulators : consequences for synaptic function and insulin release

    Författare :Jenny Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The process by which cells release substances through fusion of vesicles with the plasma membrane is called exocytosis. Regulated exocytosis needs to be tightly controlled in order to respond to the large variation in stimuli and demands for release of neurotransmitters, peptides and hormones. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Functional Studies on the PDGFR α gene promoter and effects of autocrine PDGF-A stimulation in vivo

    Författare :Xiao-Qun Zhang; Hubert Schorle; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Autorcrine PDGF; promoter; PDGFRA; transgenic mice; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Platelet-derived growth factor receptor α (PDGFRα) plays an important role during embryogenesis. After implantation, the patterns of expression of Pdgfrα and its ligand Pdgf-A undergo an "autocrine-paracrine transition", in that Pdgf-A becomes expressed in the ectoderm and epithelia, while Pdgfrα is expressed in the adjacent mesenchymal tissue.
