16. Noise and electrical properties of YBCO nanostructures
Sammanfattning : This thesis work deals with the investigation of noise properties in cuprate High critical Temperature Superconductor (HTS) YBCO nanoscale devices. Here the aim is to get a better understanding of nanoscale fluctuations in the normal state of HTS from which superconductivity evolves. LÄS MER
17. 1D to 3D Magnetism in Quantum Materials: A study by Muons, Neutrons & X-rays
Sammanfattning : A collection of works stretching from low- to three-dimensional magnetism are presented, studied mostly through muon spin rotation, relaxation and resonance (µ +SR). The theoretical background of this technique is outlined in Chapter 2, which introduces the subject from the muon particle as an astro[1]nomical particle to how they are produced here on Earth. 18. Beyond Perturbation: Modeling Anharmonicity in Materials
Sammanfattning : The vibrational motion of atoms is essential for understanding condensed matter systems. It directly influences numerous thermodynamic properties with significant technological implications. LÄS MER
19. Mechanical properties of sound and of deteriorated softwood at different length scales : Poromicromechanical modeling and experimental investigations
Sammanfattning : Due to its natural origin and its inherent heterogeneities, mechanical properties of wood are highly anisotropic and show a broad variability, not only between different wood species, but also within a tree. Similar to other biological materials, the wood mi- crostructure is well organized and hierarchically structured from the annual rings visible to the naked eye down to the wood polymers cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin at the nanometer-scale. 20. Effects of Pulsed Electric Fields on Plant Tissue
Sammanfattning : The interaction between biological cells and external electric fields has been of interest by scientists for several decades. Exposure of the cells to electric fields leads to various kinds of biophysical and biochemical responses. These responses can be used to characterize cell properties and/or to manipulate cell characteristics. LÄS MER
