  1. 11. Experimental investigation of snow metamorphism at near-surface layers

    Författare :Lavan Kumar Eppanapelli; Mikael Sjödahl; Johan Casselgren; Arne Instanes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Snow metamorphism; NIR reflectance; Snow and Ice; Radiative transfer equation; Paramterization; Snow properties; Tomography; Snow microstructure; Experimentell mekanik; Experimental Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Snow metamorphism is a direct objective in many snow research areas, and its charac-terisation is a major challenge in areas including winter road maintenance, detection of icing on wind turbine blades, and snow quality mapping for skiing. A common effect of snow metamorphism is compaction, which can be investigated from the associated vari-ations in physical properties of snow. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Structural properties of the mastoid using image analysis and visualization

    Författare :Olivier Cros; Michael Gaihede; Hans Knutsson; Bernard Ars; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The mastoid, located in the temporal bone, houses an air cell system whose cells have a variation in size that can go far below current conventional clinical CT scanner resolution. Therefore, the mastoid air cell system is only partially represented in a CT scan. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Influencing factors of orthodontic tooth movement and root resorption, and evaluation of its radiographic diagnostic means

    Författare :Alexander Dudic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthodontic tooth movement; orthodontically induced root resorption; radiologic evaluation of root resorption;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: To investigate whether patient- or tooth-related factors like jaw location or intra- and interarch obstacles influence the amount of orthodontic tooth movement and orthodontically induced root resorption, and to evaluate if the concept of slow and fast movers is valid in humans. Furthermore, to evaluate the validity of different radiographic methods for detecting root resorption. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Malleus fracture : experimental and clinical aspects

    Författare :Anders Niklasson; Krister Tano; Magnus Von Unge; Preben Homøe; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; malleus fracture middle ear human temporal bone laser doppler vibrometry; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology; oto-rhino-laryngologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Patients with malleus fractures are described as rare in the literature. The cause of these fractures are most commonly trauma and digital manipulation of the ear canal, while in some cases the causes are unknown. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Virtual histology by laboratory x-ray phase-contrast tomography

    Författare :Jenny Romell; Hans Hertz; Anna Burvall; Julia Herzen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biological and Biomedical Physics; Biologisk och biomedicinsk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Detailed imaging of biological samples is central to different fields of research, as well as for clinical pathology. Classical histology, using light- orelectron microscopy, can generate high-resolution images but is destructive and only gives two-dimensional information. LÄS MER
