16. Improved Frank-Wolfe directions with applications to traffic problems
Sammanfattning : The main contribution of this thesis is the development of some new efficient algorithms for solving structured linearly constrained optimization problems. The conventional Frank-Wolfe method is one of the most frequently used methods for solving such problems. LÄS MER
17. Bargaining and Communication in Games
Sammanfattning : Chapter 2 investigates an infinitely repeated Bertrand duopoly where firms with different discount factors bargain over which collusive price and market share to implement. The bargaining is modelled as a strategic game and the main results of the paper is that it shows existence of a unique subgame perfect equilibrium and that the least patient firm's equilibrium market share is not monotone in its own discount factor. 18. Essays on Negotiation and Renegotiation in Bertrand Games
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis consists of three separate papers that investigate the effects of negotiation and renegotiation in Bertrand games. The first paper investigates collusion in an infinitely repeated Bertrand duopoly where firms have different discount factors. LÄS MER
19. Feasible Direction Methods for Constrained Nonlinear Optimization : Suggestions for Improvements
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development of novel feasible direction type algorithms for constrained nonlinear optimization. The new algorithms are based upon enhancements of the search direction determination and the line search steps. LÄS MER
20. The economics of power generation and climate policy
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of an introduction and six self-contained papers addressing the economics of electric power generation and climate policy. Paper I explores systematically the use of spatial econometric techniques in testing for convergence of CO2 emissions per capita across countries. LÄS MER
