    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is an autoimmune disease, characterized by autoimmune mediated loss of insulin secreting Beta-cells. The disease is associated with certain HLA class 11 haplotypes. HLA DR3-DQ2 and DR4-DQ8 are positively while DQ6 (DQA1*0102-DQB1*0602) is negatively associated with the disease in Caucasians.     Sammanfattning : Infection with human papillomaviruses (HPV) types 16 and 18 is the major cause of cervical neoplasia. Although a high proportion of cervical cancers (CXCA) harbor HPV genomes, only a small number of women infected with high-risk papillomaviruses develop cervical tumors, suggesting that other environmental and/or genetic factors contribute to cervical carcinogenesis.     Sammanfattning : The aim of the work presented in this thesis was to investigate nature of adsorption of amphiphiles to the solid–liquid interface. The surface aggregate structures of the zwitterionic surfactant dodecyldimethylammoniopropanesulfonate, (DDAPS) and a series of nonionic polyoxyethlylene glycol alkyl ethers (C10E5, C12E5, C12E8, C10E6, C14E6 and C16E6) have been determined by Atomic Force Microscopy on solids of different hydrophobicity.
