  1. 21. The expression and molecular functions of LRIG proteins in cancer and psoriasis

    Författare :Terese Karlsson; Håkan Hedman; Mikael Johansson; Roger Henriksson; Kim Jensen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LRIG1; LRIG2; LRIG3; LMO7 lung cancer; glioma; psoriasis; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : The leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains (LRIG) family consists of three integral membrane proteins that are important in human cancer. LRIG1 is a negative regulator of growth factor signaling. Its expression is associated with longer survival in several cancer types, and the gene has been shown to function as a tumor suppressor. 2. 22. Pan-cancer study of transcriptional responses to oncogenic somatic mutations

    Författare :Arghavan Ashouri; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; Driver mutations; Genomics; Transcriptomics; lncRNAs; NRF2; ALK;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer cells typically carry acquired somatic mutations in key cancer driver genes, which can be identified on the basis of recurrence in cancer cohorts. Such mutations may cause aberrant protein activity and altered gene expression in the nucleus, driving the cell toward a cancerous phenotype. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Radiotherapy in Early Breast Cancer

    Författare :Fredrika Killander; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pentoxifylline; cyclophosphamide; tamoxifen; side effects; randomised trial; Breast cancer; radiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Radiotherapy (RT) after mastectomy has been part of the treatment for early breast cancer since the 1940s. The treatment reduces the risk of loco-regional recurrences, but implies risk of late side effects that can begin decades after RT. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Role of mitochondria in early molecular diagnosis and prognosis of cancer

    Författare :Yanni Li; Allmänmedicin och klinisk epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; mtDNA copy number; mitochondrial-related nuclear genes; mtDNA mutations; diagnosis; prognosis; biomarker;

    Sammanfattning : Background:Earlier clinical detection of cancer may improve survival as well as offer opportunities for less invasive treatment options. This thesis explores whether the mitochondria and its related genes in the nuclear genome can be used as novel methods for the diagnosis and prognosis of cancers. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Factors influencing management and outcome in non-small cell lung cancer : the role of socioeconomic status, age, geographic region of origin and aspects of quality of life

    Författare :Linda Willén; Stefan Bergström; Michael Bergqvist; Mats Lambe; Roger Henriksson; Bjørn Henning Grønberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lung neoplasms; NSCLC; Sweden; socioeconomic factors; educational level; aged; elderly; immigration; depressive disorder; dysthymic disorder; anxiety; suicide; survival; registries; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Yearly, 4,200 individuals in Sweden are diagnosed with lung cancer, of which 85 % are non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The aims of this thesis were to investigate aspects of equality of care and outcomes in patients with NSCLC and to examine indicators of quality of life. LÄS MER
