  1. 16. Left ventricular thrombus and stroke after acute myocardial infarction

    Författare :Thomas Mooe; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; myocardial infarction; thrombolytic therapy; left ventricular thrombosis; risk factors; cerebral embolism and thrombosis;

    Sammanfattning : A left ventricular thrombus develops in approximately 40% of patients following an anterior myocardial infarction. Embolization from these thrombi has been regarded as the most important cause of stroke following a myocardial infarction. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Left ventricular reconstruction in ischemic heart disease

    Författare :Ulrik Sartipy; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Left ventricular reconstruction; surgical ventricular restoration; heart failure surgery; left ventricular aneurysm; ischemic heart disease; cardiac remodeling; surgery for ventricular tachycardia;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives: [1] To review our experience with left ventricular reconstruction (LVR) regarding safety (early mortality and morbidity) and long-term survival (Study I). [2] To evaluate LVR including surgery for ventricular tachycardia in patients with preoperative spontaneous or inducible ventricular tachycardia (Study II). LÄS MER

  3. 18. Management of patients treated with left ventricular assist devices : A clinical and experimental study

    Författare :Bengt Peterzén; Henrik Casimir-Ahn; Hans Ruthberg; Lars Wiklund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; postcardiotomy heart failure; perioperative monitoring; coronary artery bypass; heart-assist devices; heart failure; congestive; ventricular dysfunction; Thoracic surgery; Thoraxkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the management of patients treated with mechanical circulatory support devices for short- or long-term use. Twenty-four patients suffering from postcardiotomy heart failure were treated with a minimally invasive axial flow pump. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Insights into left atrial response to pressure and volume overload

    Författare :Matteo Lisi; Michael Henein; Sergio Mondillo; Lars-Åke Lars; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Keywords Mitral regurgitation; aortic stenosis; speckle tracking echocardiography; heart transplantation; left atrial strain; left ventricualr function; right ventricular function; myocardial fibrosis;

    Sammanfattning : The general purpose of this thesis is to establish the ability of Speckle Tracking Echocardiography (STE) in assessing left atrial (LA) response to pressure and volume overload respectively in aortic stenosis (AS) and mitral regurgitation (MR), and to evaluate its accuracy in predicting LA and right ventricular (RV) fibrosis in patients with end-stage heart failure (HF) undergoing heart transplantation (HTx).I demonstrated that assessment of left ventricular (LV) long axis systolic velocity and amplitude of excursion is more sensitive than simple determination of ejection fraction (EF) for revealing the beneficial impact of MR surgery on overall LV systolic performance. 5. 20. Studies on malignant ventricular tachyarrhythmias and their treatment with an implantable defibrillator

    Författare :Bengt Sandstedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Implantable cardioverter defibrillator; ventricular fibrillation; ventricular tachycardia; predischarge test; defibrillation threshold; discrimination; electrogram morphology; aortic stenosis; hypertrophy; noradrenalin;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: To investigate the hemodynamic, metabolic and autonomic effects of ventricular fibrillation per se during maintained circulation. To study the defibrillation threshold (DFT) and efficacy of a new and thinner ICD lead (DSP) compared with the standard lead (C). LÄS MER
