1. Deepening the insights of lignin structure : Lignin-carbohydrate complex (LCC) fractionation and characterization and Kraft lignin amination
Sammanfattning : Improvement of kraft pulping delignification efficiency and value-addition of industrial kraft lignin are two attractive topics. The proposal that delignification is deteriorated by the presence of lignin-carbohydrate complex (LCC) is still being debated. LÄS MER
2. Development of working memory, speech perception and auditory temporal resolution in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and language impairment
Sammanfattning : Speech perception (SP), verbal working memory (WM) and auditory temporal resolution (ATR) have been studied in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and language impairment (LI), as well as in reference groups of typically developed children. A computerised method was developed, in which discrimination of same or different pairs of stimuli was tested. LÄS MER
3. A study of neuropeptide Y in brains of 'depressed' and healthy rats
Sammanfattning : Neuropeptide Y (NPY), a 36-amino acid peptide that was originally isolated from mammalian brain tissue, is widely distributed in both rat and human brain. NPY has a number of physiological actions and affects for example hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA)-axis and circadian rhythms, modulates memory processing and food intake. LÄS MER
4. Regulation of experimentally induced airway obstruction
Sammanfattning : Asthma is one of the commonest diseases in industrialized countries. The cause and mechanisms of !he disorder are still not fully unden;tood, al!hough it is known that inflammation in !he airways plays an important role. Inflammatory mediators, e.g. LÄS MER
5. Neuropeptide Y Y1 receptor mechanisms in sympathetic vascular control
Sammanfattning : It was demonstrated that the Y1 receptor was the predominant vascular neuropeptide Y (NPY) receptor in pig kidney and hind limb as exogenous and endogenous NPY evoked vasoconstrictor responses that were almost or totally abolished by the selective non-peptide Y1 receptor antagonist, BIBP 3226. Furthermore, renal vasoconstriction was evoked by NPY and a peptide Y1 agonist, but not by a Y 2 agonist, and these responses were strongly reduced by another non-peptide Y, receptor antagonist, SR 120107A.
