  1. 1. Regulation of experimentally induced airway obstruction

    Författare :Eva G. Lindström; Jan Lötvall; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :airway obstruction; antigen; capsaicin; epithelium; inflammatory mediators; sensory neurons; tube preparation; tachykinins; formoterol; histamine; presynaptic inhibition; in vitro; guinea pig; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Asthma is one of the commonest diseases in industrialized countries. The cause and mechanisms of !he disorder are still not fully unden;tood, al!hough it is known that inflammation in !he airways plays an important role. Inflammatory mediators, e.g. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Effects of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals on Human Endometrial Endothelial Cells In Vitro

    Författare :Malin Helmestam; Matts Olovsson; Anneli Stavreus-Evers; Yvonne Lundberg Giwercman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endocrine disrupting chemicals; hormones; human endometrial endothelial cells; endometrium; estrogen; progesterone; cadmium; tamoxifen; mifepristone; bisphenol A; angiogenesis; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Evidence from an abundant number of studies suggests that human female reproductive functions have become impaired over the past half century and that there might be a relationship between endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and reduced fertility. It is, however, not known by what mechanisms EDCs affect different reproductive functions such as endometrial receptivity, embryo implantation and placentation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Speciation analysis of butyl- and phenyltin compounds in environmental samples by GC separation and atomic spectrometric detection

    Författare :Dong Nguyen Van; Wolfgang Frech; Anders Cedergren; Erwin Rosenberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organotin speciation analysis; species-specific isotope dilution; inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry; single isotope spike; multi-isotope spike; redistribution; species transformation; preparative liquid chromatography; gas chromatography; line source atomic absorption spectrometry; continuum source atomic absorption spectrometry; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The main goal of the work presented in this thesis is to improve the reliability of existing methods for speciation analysis of organotin compounds Species-specific isotope dilution (SSID) calibration in combination with gas chromatography – inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was used to investigate the transformation of phenyltin species during sample preparation. Isotope-enriched phenyltin species were synthesized from corresponding isotope-enriched tin metals. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Determination of benzene in urine and breath for monitoring of benzene exposure

    Författare :Göran Ljungkvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biological monitoring; benzene; breath; urine; dynamic headspace; membrane; gas chromatography; mass spectrometry; thermal desorption;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to develop and validate methods for determination of unmetabolized benzene in breath and urine. The methods were intended for the bio monitoring of benzene to assess both occupational and environmental exposure.A method was developed for the determination of benzene in end-exhaled air. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Programming and updaing of reaching movements

    Författare :Sergei Perfiliev; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Reaching movements; motor cortex; central command; neuronal recording; trajectory updating; descending pathways; spinal cord lesions;

    Sammanfattning : Neuronal activity in the motor cortex (area 4) was recorded during reaching movements in cats, trained to perform target-reaching in response to a tone burst. Out of 350 task related neurones 12% generated short latency (20?110 ms) sensory responses to the cue triggering the reaching movement. LÄS MER
