  1. 11. Neuroendocrine tumors of the digestive system : Modulation of apoptosis and factors associated with growth regulation during biotherapies

    Författare :S. A. Hassan Imam; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroendocrine tumors of the gut have the potential to create life-threatening syndromes which become difficult to treat. Tumor mass reduction, by medical therapy, is one of the choices of treatments. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Regulation of Type I Interferon Production in Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells : Effect of Genetic Factors and Interactions with NK Cells and B Cells

    Författare :Olof Berggren; Maija-Leena Eloranta; Niels Heegaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Systemic lupus erythemtosus; IFN-alpha; autoimmunity; immune complex; single nuclear polymorphisms; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The type I interferon (IFN) system plays a central role in the etiopathogenesis of many autoimmune diseases, e.g. systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Activation of the type I IFN system in SLE is promoted by endogenous nucleic acid-containing immune complexes (ICs) which stimulate plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs). LÄS MER

  3. 13. Clinical and Experimental Studies in Primary Sjögren’s Syndrome and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

    Författare :Gunnel Nordmark; Lars Rönnblom; Olle Kämpe; Ola Winqvist; Lennart Jacobsson; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmune mechanisms and genetic susceptibility contribute to the pathogenesis of primary Sjögren’s syndrome and SLE. These chronic systemic autoimmune diseases have many serological and clinical features in common and have an impact on daily life. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Innate immunity in the immunopathogenesis of chronic viral infection

    Författare :David Malone; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells have a key role in control and clearance of viral infections. To carry out this function NK cells are capable of recognising infected cells and responding with induction of apoptosis in these cells, and production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Gastrointestinal Manifestations and Pathophysiological Mechanisms in Systemic Sclerosis

    Författare :Karin Franck-Larsson; Anders Rönnblom; Wilhelm Graf; Olof Hallböök; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatology; Reumatologi; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare systemic, autoimmune disease characterized by vascular changes and fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Patients with SSc more frequently than healthy controls reported upper gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, which was more abundant in the diffuse cutaneous form (dcSSc) of the disease than in the limited (lcSSc).
