  2. 2. The flow of pulp suspensions

    Författare :Helena Fock; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pulp suspensions; Velocity profile; Concentration profile; Wall layer; Particle image velocimetry; Flow behaviour; Computational fluid dynamics; Ultrasound velocity profiling;

    Sammanfattning : Large quantities of pulp suspensions are handled in the pulp and paper industry and knowledge of their flow behaviour is very important in the design and operation of process equipment. Despite this, there is still a lack of a fundamental understanding of the mechanisms of the pulp suspension flow. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Inflammation, Plaque Vulnerability and Cardiovascular Risk

    Författare :Helena Grufman; Kardiovaskulär forskning - immunitet och ateroskleros; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atherosclerosis; carotid plaque; acute coronary syndrome; CRP; cytokines; aging; IL-27;

    Sammanfattning : Acute cardiovascular events, most commonly caused by rupture of an atherosclerotic plaque, lie behind one third of all deaths worldwide. Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease of large and medium sized arteries driven by retention of lipid in the arterial wall. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Vascular functions in infants, children and their mothers

    Författare :Helena Martin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The function of the microvascular system was studied during early postnatal circulatory adaptation and in early-onset neonatal sepsis. We also studied large and small artery functions in infants and schoolchildren of low birthweight, a risk factor related to later development of cardiovascular disease and hypertension. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mechanisms involved in the regulation of secretory phospholipase A2 Type IIA expression in human arterial smooth muscle cells. Potential role in atherogenesis

    Författare :Helena Peilot; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Experimental and clinical evidence indicates that secretory phospholipase A2 group IIA (sPLA2-IIA) contributes to atherogenesis. Activity of sPLA2-IIA may be pro-atherogenic both in the circulation leading to altered lipoprotein profile and/or locally in the artery wall where it contributes to lipid accumulation both intra and extra cellularly.
