1. Vascular functions in infants, children and their mothers
Sammanfattning : The function of the microvascular system was studied during early postnatal circulatory adaptation and in early-onset neonatal sepsis. We also studied large and small artery functions in infants and schoolchildren of low birthweight, a risk factor related to later development of cardiovascular disease and hypertension. LÄS MER
2. Travel – a risk factor for disease and spread of antibiotic resistance
Sammanfattning : As international travel is rapidly increasing, more people are being exposed to potentially more antibiotic resistant bacteria, a changed infectious disease epidemiology, and an increased risk of accidents and crime. Research-based advice is needed to adequately inform travellers about these risks. LÄS MER
3. Interaction Between Microgels and Oppositely Charged Peptides
Sammanfattning : Lightly cross-linked polyelectrolyte microgels are materials with interesting properties for a range of applications. For instance, the volume of these particles can be drastically changed in response to pH, ionic strength, temperature, or the concentration of specific ions and metabolites. LÄS MER
4. "Vi vet inte vilka metoder vi ska använda" : om relationen mellan kunskap, praktik och politik när det gäller det sociala arbetet med hemlöshetsfrågor
Sammanfattning : This dissertation examines the relationship between knowledge, practice and policy within a specific area of social work, namely, social intervention to ameliorate the problem of homelessness. In the thesis, the ambition shown in recent years to lay the ground for an evidence-based practice in social work is discussed as an expression of late modern attempts to deal with the contradictory character of scientific knowledge. 5. Protein production and purification in structural genomics
Sammanfattning : The number of gene products available for structural and functional study is increasing at an unprecedented rate as a result of the successful whole genome sequencing projects. Systematic structure determination of proteins on a genomic scale, called structural genomics, can significantly contribute to the field of protein science and to functional annotation of newly identified genes.
