16. Large-Scale Graphene Production for Environmentally Friendly and Low-Cost Energy Storage : Production, Coating, and Applications
Sammanfattning : There is great demand for energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable, and cost-effective electrical energy storage devices. One important aspect of this demand is the need for automotive electrification to achieve more energy-efficient transportation at a reasonable cost, thus supporting a fossil-fuel free society. 17. Picosecond X-ray Diffraction Studies of Bulk and Nanostructure Materials
Sammanfattning : Fast phenomena occurring after laser excitation were studied using time-resolved X-ray diffraction (TXRD). In most experiments, a femtosecond laser pulse was used to excite the sample, and X-rays were used as a probe. LÄS MER
18. Above and Below Graphene: Nanoparticle Chemistry and Interface Reactions
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this dissertation addresses two main topics: (i) graphene supported nanoparticles and their stability upon gas adsorption, and (ii) intercalation of different molecules under graphene and their reactions under graphene. From an interplay of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, low energy electron diffraction, and density functional theory an atomic scale understanding of both the nanoparticles and the intercalated structures is obtained. 19. Electrochemical characterization of materials for next generation polymer electrolyte fuel cells
Sammanfattning : Polymer electrolyte fuel cells occupy a key position in implementing the hydrogen economy on a global scale. However, assessments of cost, availability and sustainability of materials currently used to manufacture state-of-the-art fuel cell stacks have given cause for concern. LÄS MER
20. Transition Metals and their Carbides, Nitrides and Carbonitrides : from a CALPHAD Perspective
Sammanfattning : The CALPHAD (CALculation of PHAse Diagrams) method consists of three cornerstones, i.e. experiments, computational methods (e.g. LÄS MER
