16. Entrained flow gasification of biomass : On atomisation, transport processes and gasification reactions
Sammanfattning : Since the energy consumption in the world is increasing together with an increase of greenhouse gas emission it is of importance to find alternatives to fossil fuels. Biomass is one of the alternative energy sources which is both renewable and CO2 neutral. LÄS MER
17. Transient Phenomena in CO and Hydrocarbon Oxidation over Supported Platinum Catalysts
Sammanfattning : The aim with this thesis work was to better understand transient phenomena involved in the low-temperature oxidation of CO and hydrocarbons by oxygen over typical oxidation catalysts. Supported platinum catalysts were prepared and carefully studied under transient conditions by means of flow-reactor experiments, different in situ spectroscopic (FTIR and XANES) methods in combination with mass spectrometry and mean-field kinetics simulations. 18. Aspects on Dynamic Power Flow Controllers and Related Devices for Increased Flexibility in Electric Power Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies different aspects of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices which are used to improve the power transfer capability and increase the controllability in electric power systems. In the thesis, different aspects on the usage and control of Dynamic Power Flow Controllers (DPFC) and related FACTS devices are studied. LÄS MER
19. Dynamics of Fluid Particles in Turbulent Flows; CFD simulations, Model Development and Phenomenological Studies
Sammanfattning : The thesis investigates the dynamics of fluid particles in turbulent flows, which plays an important role in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and petroleum industries. Phenomenological studies, new mathematical models for the breakup phenomena, and development of a simulation method for chemical reactors constitute the main parts of this thesis. LÄS MER
20. Numerical modelling of swirling drying flow
Sammanfattning : Waste hydrochloric acid (HCl) from the pickling process at SSAB EMEA in Borl¨ange, Sweden, is regenerated using a technique called spray roasting where waste HCl is sprayed into a hot reactor through four spray nozzles at the top of the reactor. The regeneration (drying) process is driven by four natural gas burners placed symmetrically along the periphery of the reactor and causes the water in the waste acid droplets to evaporate. LÄS MER
